Sarah turned to Robert. "Robert, I can take it from here..."
"Oui, Madame..." Robert said.
"Why don't you see if anyone wants any more refreshments outside?" She said.
Robert nodded and headed out to check.
"So, what is this about?" She asked them.
Rebecca looked at Sarah. She was wearing a stylish pool robe. Her hair was wet, indicating she'd just gotten out of the water. She looked like some kind of supermodel, and her body language had shifted. She had been assertive before, but it had shifted a bit. "You do remember our session?" she questioned. "I am checking in on people. There is not much news on the physical front, and I've been observing the psychological front."
"We're all fine," Sarah said.
"We being...you live here with your family...which would be?"
"Lucy and Biff...You met Biff already," she said.
"And what about the person who just left?"
"Oh, that's just Robert..." she said. "He had things to do."
Abby sat there, quietly. Sarah seemed more attractive than when she last saw her...and she tried to focus on what her companion was asking...it seemed similar to the questions Rebecca had asked her and Ethan...had she been probing for information...probably. Why else would she be there?
Rebecca made an encouraging noise for her to go on... Sarah frowned, placing her hands on her hips. "I have guests...I didn't ask for a therapy session," she said.
"I'm sorry...I honestly am a bit concerned about all of you."
"I said, we are perfectly fine. It has been a bit of an adjustment lately....but I think it has brought us closer together," Sarah said. "It has been a bit hard on Biff...you know teenagers and their hormones..."
Rebecca opened her mouth to respond, but was interrupted by Ethan. "She's trying not to tell you that you're acting like some old lady and you're really just seventeen."
"Ethan!" Abby said, sternly.
"Well, it's true..." he said. "I mean...at least she has some style..."
Sarah didn't say anything. She took a few deep breaths, and turned toward a nearby mirror.
"Sarah," Rebecca Fine said. "Ethan was right...I was trying to not shock you...I think part of your body is older than the rest..and it has been sending mixed signals to the rest of you," she said. "And your mind is trying to reconcile it."
"Are you saying the same thing is happening to us?" Abby asked.
"I did tell you that...but I didn't want to alarm you. Adults tend to think more with the rational part of their brain...teenagers with the emotional part of their brain," she said. "So, the two of you are able to think about the current situation more rationally." Of course, she actually thought it was more than that. That explained some of the behavior changes, but not all, but one thing at a time, she was trying to earn trust and the best way to do that was with a version of the truth...even if wrapped in some lying. "Also, everyone isn't the same. I've met plenty of rational teenagers and very irrational adults," she said, honestly.
Sarah didn't respond, looking at herself in the mirror.
"Sarah..." Rebecca said, putting a hand on her shoulder. "It is going to be all right..."
Finally, Sarah seemed to steel herself, and turned to Rebecca Fine.
