First was their names. I did not care much about the dancers or entertainers. I did not know many of their names. "Listen, this is a big day for everyone involved here. We were all actually caught of guard by this situation. This is really the first time any of us have been asked to be their master for magic reasons." I told them. The human looked really determined and nodded his head. "What is your name?" I asked. "My name is Xavier Watkins." he said flatly. I looked at the dancer. "Now introduce yourself to Xavier." I instructed. "Marantyz is my common name. As for my true name, maybe I'll tell you when we get a bit closer." he said with a playful wink. I rolled my eyes. It was not going to stop the interview. "What is your occupation?" I asked him. He said that he was a former apprentice of the same teacher that Felix and Alex had. He had both of his parents in his life. His mother was a witch. He did not have enough mana in his body to even do 1st class magic without nearly killing himself, however. It was not his fault. His father was a librarian and scholar. No magic at all. It was a marriage of love.
Love is really great. Love was not the same as eugenics though. Personally, I preferred love over eugenics. That did not mean that the children could not be benefited by having 2 very strong parents. Since this was all a giant video game, unless it was my girlfriend, love was not a factor here. Suzie was playing on the main server. When I told her what had happened, she told me to keep playing. "It's not like we need to be attached at the hip. We'll catch up over the phone to talk about what we've been doing." she said. I thought that it made sense. I was doing pretty well and did not want to leave it for no real reason. She was feeling the same way about her experience in the game. The next question was "What do you want to do with your powers?" He said "I want to go on adventures like my mother and uncle. The mage guild does not have a branch here. We have to travel to Robal City to get to the closest one. They only accept new members that had mastered 2nd class magic. And 2 separate spells in the class at that. That is impossible no matter how much I study or tinker with the formula."
That made sense to me. If he did not have the aptitude, he was going to need to look at other means. There were wizards, sorcerers and warlocks. Each of them were a separate class. The difference is that the magic wielders gain their powers in very different ways. "Mage" was the next step for a magic class. It apparently was a title for the high leveled members of their classes. Sorcerers carry a magical birthright conferred upon them by an exotic bloodline, some otherworldly influence, or exposure to some unknown cosmic forces. One can't study sorcery as one learns a new language, any more than one can learn to live a legendary life. No one chooses sorcery; the power chooses the sorcerer. Wizards are supreme magic-users, defined and united as a class by the spells they cast. Drawing on the subtle weave of magic that permeates the cosmos, wizards cast spells of explosive fire, arcing lightning, subtle deception, and brute-force mind control. Their magic conjures monsters from other planes of existence, glimpses the future, or turns slain foes to zombies. We were all wizards.
