I put the ring on Fuyumi's finger. She then put her ring on my finger. After the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom pairs welcomed more guests to the big reception party. The party usually takes place at a restaurant. We got to go and get everyone seated for the entertainment. We were now married couples. This was just for show and prestige. I was really on top of this part. The restaurant was overflowing with beautiful decorations. It was truly amazing. Everyone could see them and how Goro was puffing up his chest in pride. The party normally started with the introductions of the bride and groom and lasted for about 2 to 2.5 hours. Keisuke and Hatsuka were first and then us. The bride and groom seat at the head tables to be the center of attention for everyone. During the ceremony, a meal is served and several guests make contributions such as speeches, songs and other performances. Goro was able to pay for a professional singer to serenade us all. It was great. All the members of their small committee got up to have a turn making a nice speech. That was totally their due.
One of the highlights of the ceremony is the ritual of cake cutting, which is borrowed from western custom. At the very end of the party, the couple will make a speech to all the guests and thank everybody. Since it was the husbands who spoke the words of commitment during the wedding, it was tradition for the wife to address the party now. Obviously, the husband was there to cosign it to the crowd. Hatsuka went first and then Fuyumi. They had nice words to say to their families and close friends. Both speeches were well received by the party guests. After that, the party had ended. It was time for us to go back to the village. We would then perform the consummation ceremony when we got back to our homes. This was a solemn and important time. We were going to walk at a civilian's pace. That meant 3 days. All of us that were attending were going together. All the other clanmates could return to the village on their own time. Fuyumi smiled at me and said "I hope that you are ready for living our lives together. We will be life partners from now on." I nodded and said "Of course I am."
We made our way back to our village and we made our way to Keisuke's house. Now also Hatsuka's house. It was them and then me and Hatsuka's family.
