Now that that was over, I gestured to everyone else. "Sir Killroy, I would like to introduce you to Baron Jefferey Swiftheart, my liege and father to Anthony and Fabien." It was like a switch was flipped on. He immediately went to give the proper greetings and show respect. "Sir Killroy is the nephew of the king." I said. He rubbed the back of his head. "Not officially. As you know, I am a bastard." he said, clearly uncomfortable with the announcement. I said. "Nonsense. The king threw you a whole party to celebrate your back to back wins at the tournaments." "As His Majesty would with any other winner." he said quickly. "Sir Killroy, would you be able to get us an audience with His Majesty." Sir Killroy crossed his arms. "I do owe my mother's life to you." he said tersely. He did not look too happy. "I am not saying that I want this for free. I can visit you and your mother. Maybe we can go through her favorites and see what memories we can bring up." I told him. His finger began to tap on his arm. "Fine. I might not be able to request an audience, but my father can." I will give you his decision tomorrow.
I was satisfied with that. I had Evan see the champion to the door. "You really are a huge scoundrel. Using a man's ailing mother you bend him to your will is dastardly. It is the lowest of the low." Lord Swiftheart said with a scowl on his face. I sighed and said "There is a story behind this." I then went through recounting the story from start to finish. The story was a bit gory as I told them how I had to create the stomas. Lady Swiftheart said "I could not imagine being brought back to life only to lose so much of herself. I certainly pity her." I nodded. "I am not a doctor. I can only use what little knowledge I have from my world to try and help." I replied. "Obviously, you involved yourself in something beyond your understanding." I shrugged my shoulders. "I laid low for weeks. While thanks is sometimes it's own reward, saving a bishop and the mother of a proven warrior like Sir Killroy has its benefits. It is just a matter of finding a way to make use of all these connections." I told the group. I then brought out the chest. "The other bishop White visited me and gave me this. He said it was from his father."
Anthony and Fabien explained the wealth and power of the Whites. "If only their father wasn't also a colorless." Anthony sigjed. I looked at them. "I'm sure that they have non-albino family members. Albinism is pretty rare. They could be a great ally in this quest for power. Like I keep saying, money may be a terrible master but an excellent servant." Jeffery said "And be seen cavorting around with a damned colorless? Out of the question!" I just smirked and replied "That is where I come in, my lord." He sighed deeply and said "Fine. Secure the alliance if you want, but keep us away from the colorless members." Now it was simply time to wait. We took great joy giving them a tour of the city. We had to fill them in on how things worked. Each day was someplace new for them. After a week, we were visited by Sir Killroy again. He had a letter signed and sealed with his father's authority. It was addressed to the king's steward. "Thank you, Sir Killroy. I really appreciate this." I said gratefully as I reached for the letter. He yanked it back from me. "I would appreciate you fulfilling your part of the deal."
