The safehouse was a huge club for music and dancing. Perfect for the clan. It was not in any town or municipality. It was along the highway in the southeast region of the continent. Being that it was the perfect excuse for us to schmooze and have fun, we had to take this. My team, my hybrid kids and all the AEP units were going to help bolster the already present safehouse security. Brett and Paul were also going to be there as guests. They wanted to party, get laid and sit in for the big meeting at the end. That was fine. It was not like I was going to be that strict with security stuff either. My kids wanted to brings their friends along. I said that was okay. They could all be party guests as well. It was a massive club. In service of that, we had to leave the clan building early. Ryder and Maroon were upset they were being left behind in favor of Sunny and Lucy. I knew Ryder was very good to have in a pinch, so the offer to come along was made. He jumped at the chance. It was a massive delegation that was going to the safehouse. I knew they could accommodate us, but it was still a lot of us.
The AEP units alone counted for thirteen bodies. My team had another five. Paul and Brett were a pair. I had six kids coming with me and they each took one friend. That was another twelve people. Everyone added up for a grand total of thirty two. Paul spawned in a party bus for us to get there. Ryder got in the driver's seat and we were off. We made good time and arrived when we were supposed to. We got off the bus and Ryder parked in the parking lot in the back. Because this was an Advocate run safehouse, there were both PEP units and humans employed here. Timmy, Tammy and Temmy were the first to meet us out front. They introduced us all to everyone that would be working on the day of the party. There were several bouncers. Two looked like they had strong family resemblance. They were both human. There were four others that would be working that day. Two of them were PEP units. The other humans were a friendly looking guy and a guy that seemed really into himself. That was fine if he could handle himself in a fight. People could get crazy at times. We then moved on.
Going onto the fourth floor was prohibited. That was where the business was done. Just like the library basement held all their secrets, the fourth floor was for the PEP units of the region to get their maintenance and rewards for missions assigned to them by the transmission hub. To make things easier for them, all the PEP units were considered VIPs. The humans that were able to achieve this status were either employed directly by the clan and safehouse, the known collaborators with them whether they were Player or NPC or were the direct plus 1s of such people. It made it so no one would mind if a wounded PEP unit rolled in or needed help with a pregnancy. All it would take is for one snitch and it would be a giant problem. That was pretty cool. The basement held a small casino for people to bet and gamble. There were also some private rooms to fuck in. The bathrooms had glory holes installed for both genders. Moving around, we actually got to speak with some of the big names in the area. As this was a club, they needed talent. Humans were the only ones that could do it.
Humans could create and innovate in a way that the cyborgs simply could not. DJ Spikes and Manny were hosts of the club on alternating nights. Spikes was a true disc jockey that could mix and scratch the hottest tracks very well. Manny was a rapper from the gutter that was easy going but brash. As long as he had this giant platform to rap and spread his name out there, he did not care about the PEP units. Other than that, there were other musical talents that were brought in for gigs. Only those that were on a regular basis got to be in on the secret. Lucifel, a math rock lead guitarist and vocalist had his band perform often. The party goers went from club mode to concert mode really quick when it was his night. Kazuo was a Neo-Buddhist. His faith prevented him from taking any body upgrades. It was extremely rare to consider the human body sacred. He did. His music was religious themed, and some tracks were prayer mantras on a dubstep beat. It was pretty niche, but there were more than enough patrons willing to listen. All of them were here tonight. It led to the very high turnout.
