Before he could blast her with the plasma cannon and finish her off, a commando came and shot him in the back with a rocket launcher. Tommy was downed now too. All we could do is watch. Due to all of the damage they had already suffered, it was not hard for the thirty commandos to take the X-frames down with all the heavy artillery and explosives they brought with them. On of them drove an ATV with a mounted machine gun into the bank. That was pretty badass. The X-frame fell to the ground and the defeated PEP unit piloting it slowly crawled out the back. He was obliterated by the machine gun. Another shot with the rocket launcher toppled the other one. It was blown to bits with the pilot inside. I looked at our AEP allies. "Clearly, they will kill all cyborgs on sight. I need you to disguise yourselves as someone not dangerous." I said. They nodded and changed their clothes. They had been fighting all this time in their clan outfits. Now they looked a bit better. I then looked over at Terrance, Nancy and Marion. "Let's go before they kill our Tommy." I said. They nodded at me and got up.
Now that everything was over, they could reveal themselves. They showed their credentials and identified themselves. One of the commandos came over and splashed salt water in their faces. They did the same with the rest of us. AEPs did not have that weakness so it was fine. Terrance said we were all members of their office here to help with the Toxic Clan take down. The female Toxic AEP unit and Tommy were still alive for the moment. Since they were both at the brink of death, they had reverted back to their primordial nanite puddle form. The commandos were getting ready to put them in containers to transport them to where they could be studied. I looked at the investigators and they looked back at me. Nancy pulled me aside. "You're going to let them have Tommy!?" I snapped. She shrugged "What do you want me to say to them, Brianne!? 'Not this one here. This is one of the good ones. I know because I've been collaborating with them for the past few weeks!'" she hissed at me under her breath. "Do something! You are an investigator!" I said. "You will blow everyone's cover."
I had to back off at that point. There was no way I would risk the safety of the other three for Tommy. He had his chance to fall back. Several chances, in fact. One of the commandos searched behind the teller's gate and checked all the booths. "I saw one of them run over here." she said. I pointed to a dead PEP unit. "I think that we killed them then. This was where we had regroup and waited for back up. We didn't get a very good look at them though." I said. The commando looked me up and down. "You guys look like you've been through hell." she said sympathetically. I nodded and said "It was really touch and go until you guys showed up." She then turned from us to rejoin her group. We then had to lead them around the bank to make sure that everything was cleared out. We actually found another AEP unit trying to get down to the subbasement. We killed her with ease. We did not show them where the transmission hub was. There was no way that they had much more hiding around. Definitely not enough to flip the transmission hub down bellow. We downed a lot of them personally.
