During the evidence gathering stage, they may also take photographs, measurements, and written reports. The physical evidence collected from the scene will then be sent to a crime lab for analysis. Technicians may run such things as blood samples and fingerprints through various tests and compare them with information on known databases to attempt to identify a suspect. Because the evidence can be very delicate and mishandling can cause contamination, investigators must properly collect and preserve it; otherwise, it could be deemed inadmissible. Another technique law enforcement might use to investigate a crime is interviews. The purpose is to gather as much information about the alleged crime as possible. Because statements made by one person could influence those made by others, investigators usually separate them. Investigators may also interview the alleged perpetrator to determine their involvement in the offense. As with other parts of their investigation process, when the law enforcement conducts an interrogation, they must not violate any individual’s rights.

For instance, before asking questions, they must inform the suspect of their rights to remain silent and to an attorney. In some cases, law enforcement might conduct an undercover operation to investigate a crime. This technique usually involves an officer concealing their identity to observe people suspected of being engaged in criminal activity. After probable cause is established, law enforcement will present the evidence to a judge to seek an arrest warrant. The judge has the final say as to whether or not there is enough information to justify taking the suspect into custody. With all that being said it looked like they had their work cut out for them. While the recently born and guideless AEP units could derp themselves into trouble, the PEP and PEA units were actually really smart. They would not want to do anything that would blow their cover to the world so soon. That was where we could come in. "I think we can be helpful here. I'm just speaking off the cuff here, but-" was all I could say before I was cut off. "Then you should go to the drawing board before saying it!" Terrance quipped.

I was not going to be deterred. "I was thinking that since I had come into contact with an Advocate faction, I could hook you guys up. All you would need to do is let them flip the transmission hub once you clear out the bank. It would make all the cyborgs in the region less hostile to humans." Terrance scoffed. "So at the end of the day, this benefits you guys." he said. "Not me. I'm in a Researcher faction hub." He just paused for a bit. I was getting closer. "We were trying to find an Advocate faction group to talk to." he said. "There are only three out of thirteen hubs so they are definitely very rare compared to the Conquerors. I still don't know where they are exactly because they are being cautious, but I bet I can get them to sit down with you and help you out with Toxic Clan." "And what can they do?" he asked me. "If we captured a PEP unit working there and interrogated it, we could get you the evidence needed to look more aggressively into the bank." "That sounds fine with me. I need to call others to see what they think. You should reach out to the Advocate clan then." he said, hanging up.

Sonic Clan was the first one on my mind. Void Clan was pissed off because they could not take them over. They could do whatever they want. I did not care about them that much other than the fact we were allies. Technically, they had the numbers to do it if they wanted to. When you had similar levels of tech, you needed overwhelming numbers. However, I knew that they had resentment towards Volition Clan. Volition Clan was an upstart clan and then went on to win their autonomy. Void Clan was too proud to ask them to collaborate. Volition Clan was too intimidated by their experience with Void Clan to take on a major clan on their own. We had not called on them before. Usually we talked via only email and text. They always came to us to schedule the pick ups. I did not have their number. However, I knew who did. Both Nathan and Mary of Clan Ghost were in my phone. Clan Ghost was in a region with very little PEP activity due to the setup of the town itself. However, it did happen to fall in the sphere of influence of Sonic Clan. Nathan, the human, had their number. He gave it to me.
