John pointed the device at the two husbands, then moved the reality adjuster to the setting he wanted. As they walked to the bar, they put their arms around each other, in a loving way. When they arrived at the bar, Mr. Middleton turned towards the other man and asked "What did you want to drink, honey?" Since John was the one holding the Reality Tuner, he was the only one who could see that both men had changed. They looked, dressed, and acted like a couple of effeminate gay men. They even talked with a lisp and moved with limp wrists.
"Oh I'll have whatever you're having, thweetie," Mr. Middleton's husband said.
John had to smile to himself. He knew Mr. Middleton was aggressively homophobic, as was his wife. So seeing him acting like the type of person he hated and thinking it was all normal ... well, it was just kind of funny, in an ironic sort of way. Oh, and speaking of his wife ... John turned around and was about to use the reality adjuster on the former Mrs. Middleton, but stopped when he realized that she was no longer there. But that made sense, right? Reality had changed so that Mr. Middleton was gay and married to a man. Why would his former wife be there? Unless they were friends. But it seemed that they weren't, or not close enough to attend this party.
The party. John wondered what the purpose of the party was now. Was it still a charity dinner? It seemed that just by making Mr. Middleton and the other husband a gay married couple, reality had changed quite a bit.
