"What are you doing?" Alexis asked Cody.
Her brother turned and gave her a questioning look.
"Aren't you a little too young to drive?" she asked.
Cody paused then realized that she was right. Without even thinking about it, he had walked to the driver's side door and even reached towards the handle to open it. He turned and looked for his dad. "Dad?" he asked. But he wasn't there. Instead, he was already in the car, in the back seat ... with his mom? What were they doing? Why were they sitting in the back seat instead of the front?
Then an odd feeling washed over him. Why wouldn't they be sitting in the backseat? Wasn't that where they usually sat? He shook his head. Where did that thought come from?
"Come on, Cody, let's go. I have to wash clothes tonight and I don't want to stay up too late," Alexis said.
Cody nodded, but then paused again. Wasn't that his mom's job? Since when did his sister do the laundry? He felt very confused right now.
