Stronger. Better.

The woman pressed a button on a panel near the bottom of the vat and the gel started draining out. Jon coughed violently, spitting out chunks of gel on the vat floor.
“Where… Where am I? Who are you? What’s… What is this?”
“Calm down Jon. You are doing fine. The experiment was a resounding success.”
“Experiment? I was in my room, I-“ Jon coughed out the last of the gel chunks.
The woman walked to a nearby table, picked up a clipboard and started taking notes, stopping briefly to look at the teenager in front of her.
“Jon, you are the-” she examined her notes “Seventh iteration of my experiments and as I said, at long last, a resounding success.”
“Seventh? Experiments?”
The woman put her clipboard down.
“23 years ago, my son Jon had… An accident. A heart attack out of the blue, killing him instantly. I was in shambles. My son, my pure innocent boy couldn’t die so young. He couldn’t die at all... Looking at his dead body, I knew I must dedicate my life to undo it. Make him stronger, better, durable. Years of research created what you see in front of you, the most advance genetics lab in the world. I’ve spent my time recreating my little boy, fixing him.”
She went to a nearby machine and started fiddling with knobs and valves.
“The first one didn’t last very long. Too perfect of a recreating. Heart attack similar to the original. The second” she started laughing “melted into a puddle of goo. The third one’s limbs fell off, etc etc etc” she returned to stand in front of the vat “The sixth looked very promising, but flawed. Mortal, dying. 6, maybe 7 decades in front of him” she shook her head “I had to let him go.”
“But you, Jon-7, you are perfect. The perfect recreation. You will be my happy little boy for a long long time” she smiled.
Jon had a horrified look on his face.
