A strange laboratory

Jon’s world view rippled and blurred in front of him until he could no longer make out any detail. Slowly but surely his vision returned, just about.
Jon found himself floating naked in some sort of clear gel. Very bright florescent lights illuminated what seemed like a gigantic laboratory full of strange machinery and operating tables. A woman was sitting near a desk in the middle of the room typing on a computer occasionally looking at a what looked like a heart monitor next to her only to continue her typing shortly after.
Jon put his hand forward on the plexiglass that surrounded him and squinted. It was hard to make out over such distance and the distorting gel, but the woman looked similar to his mother. Possibly 20 or 30 years older. He gasped, berating in the gel only to start chocking once his body realized it had no source of air.
The woman, finally noticing Jon, calmly stood up and walked towards the vat that held Jon captive.
With a sad smile she said “Hello son. It’s been a long time.”
