'Templates: How things got the way they are. Kindness.

The strangest thing was the kindness, Sarah paid a stylist who knows how much to have Karyn’s hair fixed. It took hours, sitting in a chair, being pampered, it was something that Karyn was not used to, it made her nervous, but the stylist kept her talking the whole time, about a lot of fashion nonsense, while E! played in the background, filling Karyn’s head with everything she would ever care to know about gossip. She would say she didn’t care, but for now she could no longer say she didn’t know.
Finally it ended and Karyn was able to see what had become of her head. She was honestly shocked, she had never looked this good. She had spent all day looking at celebrities, who by their nature are better than us, the ideal, and from first sight Karyn felt she could stand with them on the red carpet. He had cut it slightly shorter than it was, bleached it near white, then added in a string of blondes and honey’s to it to create a mix of soft highlights and moody lowlights, it framed her face in such a way as to give it new contours and made the blue of her eyes pop and sparkle. She felt glamorous for the first time in her life, her wonder only interrupted by Sarah in the mirror behind her.
“Harris, you’ve done too well.” Sarah complimented.
Sarah gave Karyn an appraising look. “you’re going to give me a run for my money.”
Karyn smiled, then stopped, she still wasn’t quite sure how to handle Sarah.
“I can’t believe you did this for me” Karyn responded.
Sarah stood along side Karyn in the mirror, the comparison was uncanny, even more so now.
“Hey, we all have our moments, We are just excited to have you back.’
Now, lets go do some shopping and then we have a little surprise for you.
Karyn walked out of the salon with Sarah, and she almost felt like equals. A guys head turned as they walked out together, and while she couldn’t be sure that he wasn’t checking out Sarah, she felt their was a chance it was her. She smiled.
