Through all of this, no one had noticed that Sarah McMillan had barely said a word. In fact, Jon hadn’t even realised that she had been at the table.
Sarah had kept to herself, trying to work out what had happened to the short shorts that she had been wearing this morning. Initially, she thought that someone had taken them from her and hidden them as a joke. But, as she thought about it, she realised that none of her friends would do that. Even if they were pissed off at her for some reason.
Sarah frowned. Nobody said anything about the capris when she had sat down, which was odd. Normally, if she made a bad clothing choice, the other girls would laugh at her and wouldn’t let her forget it for weeks. No, something was off, everyone was almost acting as if the pants were a normal choice for her. Sarah shuddered.
“Hey, Sarah? Are you ok?”
Sarah looked up. Since Melissa and Jon had left, the others had moved to talking amongst themselves and one of them, Erika, had noticed that something was bothering Sarah.
Sarah decided to pluck up the courage.
“Do you guys notice anything different about me?” She asked and then she gestured to herself. “About what I’m wearing?”
