This was a really important. "Either we will send you out on the field, or we will bring them here to you." I continued. He seemed pleased with it. He then began looking through the instructions. They were cyborgs. Photographic memory was not going to phase me. "I understand what is needed." he told me when he was done. I nodded and said "You will be doing the surgery for the clanmates. There are PEA unit patients waiting for you in each of the labs. Good luck." I was going to leave when I turned back to him. I had to first give him the upgrades. I also had to give him a name. He was an officer now. Iota was not working here. Since he was now our medical officer, I said "Your name is now Skylar. Is that alright?" He did not seem to care one way or the other what he was called in the clan as long as he was a member. His stomach was toned and flat. "I'll be waiting in the sand garden. Tell me the results when you have finished all of them." I said. He nodded as he looked over at Alpha and began to give him his final preparations for the big installation surgery. It was going to be awhile.
I wanted to be close by, so I waited in the garden. On the way up to the garden, I went to 02's room. He looked at me when I opened it. I smiled and said "Come with me for a bit. We are going to check out the garden." All of the research and preparation was for 02 of the first place. The corrupted AEP unit came forward and followed me to the elevator. We got to the floor with the garden. I told 02 to get off but he did not listen to me. I had to pick him up. He wiggled in my grasp, but 02 was not wanting to try to escape. He probably could not help what he was doing. The symbiotes still had some sway on his mind it seemed. Once we were in the garden, I set him down. To pass the time, I asked him what he thought about the garden. He was confused that this even qualified as a garden. 02 was having trouble with it. "When we take over in the end, we are not going to let you humans do such useless things." he said. "What are humans going to do if they can't even have gardens!?" I asked him. He rolled his arms. "You can have plant matter gardens. Not sand or rock nonsense." he sighed.
At the end of the day, Skylar found me. He had changed out of his hoodie. He did not look well. He made to stand 6 feet from us. As he stood there, not speaking or moving, tension began to build. I felt a sense of dread just creeping over me until I could no longer stand it. "What the hell is it, Skylar!?" I snapped at him. He held up the folder with instructions. "I am here to report the results of the surgeries." he said nervously. It certainly did not inspire any confidence in me. "Spit it out already! You're making me feel sick with that look on your face!" I yelled at him. He nodded and said "As their medical officer, it fell to me to perform all of the hardware installations. There were 4 failures and 2 critical failures." That did not sound good. I just looked at him blankly and asked what that actually meant. "With a critical success, the organs will be working 50% better than expected. The unit took to the hardware very well. A success is the expected result. A failure means the procedure needs to be done again. It did not take. A critical failure means... it cannot be undone."
