Nolan came over to help too. I gave it a couple of in-game days but there were no signs of PEA specific missions. Apparently, normal PEP mission listings did not count towards their total. It was beneath them. However, there was an exploit that I found and then abused. As a clan officer, I could assign members on clan missions. As it was deemed "important by the clan" those were equally as valid as the ones the transmission hub offered. Clans were pretty autonomous in that way. They had no mission experience as of yet. I just gave them all busy work to do. That was really what clan missions came down to at the end of the day. Rearranging the 2 gardens in the clan building were 2 missions. Giving me inventory of all the things in the labs was valid as I was clan engineer. I ostensibly needed to know. That was another 3. I could not send them on the mission twice. There was a cooldown on them. I could get creative when needed. I had them walk around the town for "reconnaissance". I put them in Micropolis too. I had them buy and send coffee and donuts to Finian and Erin.

It was done for our "infiltration support". What was a cop without the breakfast of champions!? That was 4 more missions. I needed more to get them all up to 15. Luckily the cooldown seemed to only be a week in-game. I also was able to get them to bring breakfast to each of the 4 humans at the guild building. After the breakfast runs, we got to 13. Repeating them the next week brought us to 26 missions. It was 11 more than the 15 mission threshold. I was proud of them. This more than qualified them for the sexual upgrades. I was able to start work researching the sexual upgrade when they cleared 15. It was a piece of hardware that needed to be installed. Just like with all our PEP units and their sexual upgrades. While I was sending the squad on the extra clan missions, I was fabricating them using all 3 of the labs. That made the process go much faster. At the end of the third week, they had finished a record breaking 39 missions. That was unheard of on the continent. Due to their not being so many to go around and that the missions were automatically very dangerous by design.

Most got killed off by 15 missions. Some never even got the chance to get to go on a mission at all. I stopped when I had 20 of them in my inventory. It was now time to do the surgery. There was a small problem with it though. I had no clue what the hell I was doing. I had to get on the phone with the librarians. They did not like me, and I did not like them either. After what felt like hours of pulling teeth, I finally had a manual detailing how to do the procedure. A small victory. I was fussing over the group and told them to get ready for surgery. There were simply too many of them. I was going to have to send some of them to the AEP and PEP labs. I decided to go in order of my recruiting them. I looked at Alpha and said "I hope you're ready. Today's the day." He shook his head. "Sorry, I don't think you should do it, Brianne." I blinked. Did he change his mind? "What happened? We came all of this way. What changed?" I asked. His eyes widened a bit. "Sorry. I do want the upgrade. I meant that I think you specifically should not be doing the procedures, Brianne." I was not getting it. Not at all.

He just looked at me. "Your human hands have tiny spasms and tremors that cause error. This is a precious piece of hardware." he explained. Looking at him, I crossed my arms. "And your sensitive body parts." I sighed. He nodded his head tellingly. I could understand where he was coming from. Surgery was not something I expected to have to do. I actually liked the squad I picked out. I had also invested a lot of time and energy into them If something went wrong now, that would be pretty bad. I held both my hands up in surrender. "I get it. I'm an engineer not a surgeon." I said. Since we currently in the PEA lab, one of the currently unaligned units snatched the instructions from me and moved away. It was from behind me, but before I could turn to berate him for the theft, he said "I can do it. My hands do not tremble when holding a knife." I was still miffed, but it worked. I said "Fine. I was going to do it on a first come first served basis anyway. While you're at it, I'll make you the clan medical officer. When any of our members needs medical care, you will be the one to provide it."
