As Jon got up to refill Linda’s plate, he heard Mikey ask.
“So, Linda, how was your day?”
“It was fine thanks, Aunt Mikey.”
“Aunt Mikey!?” That stunned Jon and he gripped the counter top as he recovered.
“Are you ok Jon?” He heard Mikey ask. Jon turned around.
“Yeah, I’m fine.” He lied. “I just need some air.” He headed outside through the back door.
After a few moments, he tried to work things out. So his Mom was acting oddly thinking that she went to school and now Mikey was Aunt Mikey? Were kids swapping roles with the adults or something?
“I need to call Karyn.” He thought to himself. Luckily his phone was in his pocket, so he took it out and dialled her number. Unfortunately, though, she didn’t answer. As Jon hung up Mikey came out to see him.
He put an arm around Jon.
“Are you ok honey?” He asked Jon concerned. “If you’d like, I can help Linda with her homework.”
