Jon sighed in relief as he swooped down just behind the plane. Now all he needed to do was catch it!
He fired the repulsors in his shoes again and managed to grab one of the elevators on the tail of the plane. Remembering his training session, he moved closer, then started to move back away, increasing his inertia at the same time. With a groan of overstressed metal, the entire elevator was ripped away!
"Oh. Okay, that's not going to work!"
He looked past the plane to see that it was nearly to the ground now. He had to move fast if he wanted to stop the crash.
"Hey, guys? What about if I tried to nullify the mass of the whole plane?"
"Good thinking!" said Dr. Bradford.
"It just might work," said Dr. Takeda. "But you should know, we never designed the device to handle anything that big. I'm not sure if it'll work. If it doesn't, it might... explode."
"Oh, just great!" Jon said. He considered for a moment giving up. But that's not what Supergirl would do. He pushed his repulsors harder, flew out in front of the plane, and grabbed the nose. Then he started pushing the implants for all they were worth.
His breasts felt like they were on fire! But he gritted his teeth and continued willing the plane to be lighter, thrusting upwards with everything he could muster.
Slowly, the nose of the plane started to rise. It was going to be close...
