Karyn stepped out of the bathroom and walked over to the rolling chair by Jon's desk. She sat down and looked at Jon. Physically he was the same guy she'd always remembered but there were odd little things different in his demeanor. Jon almost always sat Indian style or with his back against the headboard and legs out in front of him when he read on his bed. Now he lay on his belly, propping his head up with his hands in a position that would have shown off cleavage if he had breasts and an outfit that exposed them, and his legs were bent up at the knee and crossed at the ankle.
As Karyn sat down he shifted so that he was lying on his side and tucked his legs up underneath him so that he could look up at her. He smiled but there was even some thing off about that. It was this coy, demure little thing that showed off the slightest hint of teeth instead of Jon's normal giant, toothy grin.
"Hello, Karyn," he said softly. "Did you make a wish?"
Karyn was in a state of shock. His voice was still his and he was saying the things he would normally say, but it was like they were coming through a girlish filter, so now his normally jubilant tone was hushed and breathy and where he normally would just ask what Karyn had wished he'd asked if she'd wished at all. The word choice aspect was subtle but noticeable, but the shift in voice was huge.
"Nah, I couldn't think of anything good," Karyn said. She tossed the rock back to Jon.
Jon tried to catch but pulled his hand down too soon expecting it to hurt. Karyn watched as it bounced onto the bed in front of him. He picked it up and moved to stand up. "I think we should probably call it a day, then," he said as he sauntered over to his door. "We both need to get done with our homework."
Karyn was still too surprised by the difference in this version of Jon versus the original to respond at first. The way he moved was so utterly feminine, from the way he bounced on the balls of his feet instead of clomping heel to toe to the almost casual way his butt and arms swayed as he walked. She realized Jon was staring at her with a perplexed look and smiled.
"Yeah, I guess so, Jon-boy," she said, smiling as she saw Jon try to hide a cringe when she said his usual nickname. "My mom's gonna want to eat soon anyways."
With that, Karyn got up to leave and Jon showed her out, thanking her coming over, something the old Jon wouldn't have done. Karyn had expected Jon to be different but this was such a big shock that she decided to let the wish run a bit longer to see what Jon would be like at school tomorrow.
Unknown to her, the person she still thought of as Jon was coming to a decision.
