Authors note: I’m skipping Zoe and Mikey’s time with Ruby as I feel it’s just more of the same thing at this point, and I’d like to get the story moving again.
“Why did you have to invite them though?” Zoe grumbled. Ruby had not long left with promise that she would contact them if there were any further developments, and Jon had just filled everyone in on his plans.
“It’s just Sarah and Lucy” he said, “you don’t need to see them if you don’t want to. They’re only coming round to see me and your f-mother” he added.
“Well in that case, I’m going to go meet Athena at the mall” Zoe said crossing her arms.
“That sounds like a good idea” Mikey grumbled, “I’ll come too”. With that they both headed off to get ready.
“I’ll drive you both,” Simon called after them, “maybe I can find some other clothes for me” he added.
“What about you Karyn?” Laura asked.
“Umm. I’d like to say here and play on the Switch if that’s ok? I’m nearly on my first Gym” she replied.
“Of course it’s ok sweetie. Why don’t you go and put it on the big tv downstairs” Jon said with a smile. Karyn’s eyes lit up and she bounded out the room and down to the basement. Just then Mikey and Zoe returned with their things. Mikey was now sporting one of Zoe’s micro-bags. A black one with a pentacle design and a strap that was hanging from his shoulder. Jon noticed Zoe struggling to get he purse into her jeans pocket.
“Go and use one of my wallets. They’re in my desk drawer” he said. Zoe looked up at him before smiling and quickly jogging back upstairs. When she returns Simon grabbed the car keys off the hook in the hallway.
“Well if your both ready, let’s go” he grinned, and the three of them filed out the house, leaving Jon and Laura alone in the living room.
“Well, I think it was nice idea” Laura smiled, “it’ll be good to have proper catch up all together” she added.
“Thanks Laura” he said with a smiled. Neither of them could say anything else as the doorbell rang, interrupting their conversation. Jon hurried down the hall and answered it.
“Jon!” Sarah exclaimed with joy, leaving forward and giving him a tight hug.
“Hi Sarah” he smiled back, amused at this new greeting.
“Hi Sarah, Lucy” Laura said with a grin, nodding at her old friend as Jon lead them into the house. Sarah had a large tote bag hanging off her arm, and Lucy had her hands in the pockets of a pair shorts.
“Laura, this place looks lovely” Lucy said looking round, “show me what you’ve done here” she said.
“Gladly. Jon why don’t you and Sarah go get changed in your room and we’ll meet you out by the tub.” Laura said as they both headed off into the house.
“That’s perfect, I’ve got something I think you need to see” Sarah whispered as Jon lead her up to his room.
