Despite outwardly appearing just the same as it had on her last day attending as Jon, before the break, Lakeview Academy felt like a whole new world to Jasmine as she and Karyn walked through the front door. Her morning routine turned out to be quite a bit different than how she remembered it, especially when Karyn was staying over as she couldn't use magic for most of it. That meant she had applied her makeup and brushed her hair manually, but she couldn't say she didn't enjoy it, especially with her best friend doing the same beside her.
Jasmine had been surprised to find that she and Karyn didn't typically walk to school in this reality, instead getting a ride from Lydia on her way to the office. It made sense, she supposed, since the Galenos family mansion was in the other direction from school from Karyn's estate compared to her old neighborhood, making it a longer commute. Jasmine found she didn't mind the change of pace, and especially enjoyed Zoe being willing to be seen arriving with them, something she'd refused to do as a goth.
She'd decided to wear her first dress today, and went with a slightly stomach revealing peekaboo number. It was a pink and green almost knee length dress, with a plunging neckline and a small gap around her middle back and sides where it tied off in a big bow. It continued the floral pattern she'd started the previous day, as it was covered in pink and white roses, and Jasmine just felt it was the perfect outfit for the start of spring. She'd accentuated it with her favorite silver bracelets and dangling hoops, alongside a silver necklace with a star shaped pendant. Completing the outfit was a white coach purse Karyn had had to remind her to grab on their way out that morning, which Jasmine was grateful for since her new memories were still a bit sporadic.
It was probably a little revealing for dress code, strictly speaking, but hey, that just gives me a chance to practice perception altering, right? the new Djinn thought to herself. As she was discovering with her new fashion sense and the memories surrounding it, Djinn had a much looser idea of propriety when it came to clothing than most humans, or at least most Americans, and most of their outfits were at least partially skin revealing. It probably came from being creatures of fire and air; it was very hard to make them feel cold in the first place, and they tended to feel more comfortable when they could feel the open air around them.
As it turned out, homeroom wasn't really all that different than how she'd remembered it. The biggest difference was that she discovered she was quite friendly with Aileen Richards, a fellow theater kid, and even on good terms with Amber Levine from the cheer squad, both of whom shared Ms. Nakahara's homeroom with Karyn and Jasmine. Feeling much more comfortable in her own skin than Jon ever had, Jasmine was a fair bit more outgoing and her friend group reflected that by being a good bit bigger than in the old world. She wasn't the most popular kid in school suddenly, but she was discovering she had quite a few new friends, even if Karyn remained by far her closest friend.
However, something quite interesting happened later, as she made her way towards her English class. She was passing by a collection of students near her locker, when she heard one of them utter two little words, "I wish..."
