Jon opened his eyes to find him standing beside Karyn in a futuristic looking silver walled room. Three large screens descended from the wall's before them. The ones on the left and right displayed a long scrolling list of names in alphabetical order, every character from the franchise from an extra to the protagonists listed out for them to pick. On the center screen were a series of options for them to pick; namely, when in the timeframe of the piece of fiction did they wish to enter, and whether the other should be made automatically aware of who they were.
"Whoa, fancy stuff Jon-Boy. What movie did you pick anyhow?" Karyn asked, her eyes wide as she took in the room.
Jon scratched the back of his neck sheepishly, "I went with the MCU in general; I know it's a bit basic but I thought it would give us the most characters to choose from, plus who doesn't want to have super powers? I figured I set it to start a week before the opening of Avengers, so we have time to get acclimated before Loki shows up. Who do you think you wanna be?"
Karyn grinned mischievously, "Let's make this fun and not tell each other who we are before we go in, that way we can be surprised when we find each other!" Jon considered for a moment before nodding in agreement, "Fine, but no picking a villain. I don't want to get bogged down in PVP on our first run." He found himself quickly adopting video game slang to refer to this, which made sense as it was in some ways the ultimate interactive video game.
Jon set the timer for a week before the start of the first Avengers, before considering the list before him. Who to pick? He instinctively didn't want to go with someone obvious like Iron Man or Captain America, hoping to surprise Karyn with who he showed up as. With a week to go before the Chitauri showed up, he could be someone who hadn't been an original Avenger. Who wouldn't Karyn be expecting; should he pick a woman?
Jon thought about it, secretly finding the idea of making so drastic a change a little thrilling, but still, who to pick. Yelena and Hela were both out since they were brainwashed or imprisoned during the timeframe they'd chosen; Gamora and Nebula were difficult picks for similar reasons. He considered Natasha but discarded it as still too obvious. Plus he was 95% sure that was who Karyn would pick as she'd always identified with her fellow redhead.
Suddenly, the perfect option came to him, and he quickly scrolled to his selection. He half turned to Karyn, "See you on the other side!" before selecting who he'd be.
