'Yes', Jon thought. 'I heard that'.
'Wait', Karyn thought. 'Can we only read each other's minds because we were slimed, or can we read anyone's mind?'
'Good question', Jon replied via thoughtcasting. 'Wait. I hear other voices. Can you hear them too?'
'Yes'., Karyn said. 'I hear Zoe. She's angry about the fight she had with Melissa Smith at school yesterday'.
'Goth is NOT out', Zoe's thoughts were saying. 'That bitch doesn't know what she's talking about'.
Jon nodded. Melissa Smith, the fashion-obsessed cheerleader, had insulted Zoe's fashion sense the previous day. He wasn't surprised that Zoe was still mad about it.
But he and Karyn could hear the thoughts of other people in and around the house.
'All these voices', Karyn thought. 'There's so many. Your family, the neighbors, people passing by the house. How do we hear them?'
'Focus on one of them', Jon said. 'Maybe if we pick one, the others won't drown them out'.
