Jon entered his room and put the rock in a safe location. He went over to his computer and logged on. As his background picture, he had a sexy fantasy girl. Jon felt chills run through him. He hurried and shut the computer screen off. It even works with fictional characters?
He didn't dare to get back on the computer. Odds are, he would see a picture of somebody. He took out his phone and sent Karyn a text message: 'What did you wish? It has something to do with seeing other people, right?'
A few moments later, Karyn sent her reply: 'Not telling :P'. Jon didn't really expect her to answer; Karyn wasn't malicious, but she was a bit of a prankster. He wondered how far she would go till she said the word.
About an hour later, Jon's parents came home. "Come down for dinner, Jon," Jon's mom called. Jon sighed. He couldn't avoid contact forever.
Everybody else was already at the dinner table. His dad was reading a newspaper, Zoe was on her phone, and his younger brother Mickey was bouncing up and down on his chair. His mom was finishing cooking something over the stove. For every person besides Zoe, Jon felt a chill run through him. So, it wasn't just girls.
"Jon," his mom said. "Can you get the cups?"
"Sure," Jon replied. He went over to the cupboard and reached up for the cups. However, he couldn't reach. Jon's heartbeat increased. Looking around to make sure no one noticed, Jon stood up on his toes to get the cups and he barely got them.
Dinner started, but Jon's mind was else where. Why did Karyn wish he'd get shorter? Judging by the difference in his reach, he was about two inches shorter at 5'7". He wondered if he'd become a midget or a child.
"Jon, honey, are you feeling alright?" Jon's mom asked. "You look very flushed."
"He's been weird all day," Zoe said.
Jon shot her a glare. "I'm not feeling well right now. I think I'm going to get some rest."
Jon went up to his room and lay on his bed. He considered his options. He wanted to stay home from school the next day to avoid people, but he knew that Karyn wouldn't be satisfied. He'd have to play her game if he wanted to change back to normal any time soon.
