Adam's worry, though, faded into the background as she watched Penny and Alice start to play with the other toys. There Adam was, off to the side on a plastic chair a bit too big for her watching the Pink Power Ranger and her little sister set up some new intricate game.
How could this be bad? Sure, Alice flying too high and bumping her head on the ceiling fan would be no good. But a kid playing with a living doll? Surely no harm could come from that.
"Do you want to play, Fairy Girl?" Penny asked. Penny, who was double Adam's height, asked as she came nearby. Adam glanced at the blaster on the Ranger's hip holster and remembered the news reports from earlier.
"Um, can I just sit this one out. You should get all the playtime you want."
Penny nodded, and Alice, who overheard, laughed. "Ok, but we play with you next!"
Then Adam heard a strange jingle like wind chimes in the air. Coming from behind and to her side. She looked over and saw, once again, the Fairy Queen, who stood beside a plush frog and the bookshelf filled with Dr. Seuss.
Adam thought it might not be the best idea to keep her queen waiting. . .
