The first emotion that hit him was awe, then intense nostalgia. Despite the crazy wishes, the panic of trying to return back to normal, Jon remembered his time in an almost entirely positive light. The power, the fun... Karyn! Wow, Jon hadn't thought about Karyn in a good long while. They had dated of course, but that was...god, almost 30 years ago. But thinking back now with these returned memories, he could see they had been closest when using the stone.
Jon also remembered the power, holding this stone, warping reality to his will, literally endless possibilities, his whole life ahead of him.
Jon thought about the office he sat in now, had sat in for the last 15 years, wondering where his life had gone. Listening to the same inane cheery office chatter day in and day out, squinting under these godforsaken florescent lights, counting minutes, traffic, returning home only too tired from doing nothing all day to properly experience his life: his wife, his daughter, his hobbies. He had lost control of his life.
Now, as Jon stared hard at the stone, Jon felt awake, more awake than he could remember feeling in years. His heart beat in his chest, his palms were sweaty, he was smiling. His smile was genuine, but manic with righteous anger. This was his control. He could take back all those years of waiting for life. He could make time for things that were important. He could make them important. He could control everything in his life now. Everything.
Jon looked up from the stone for the first time since it appeared, seeing the office for what it really is: a cage of his own making. It was time to break free of this cage. Jon began to walk towards the elevator, but paused, seeing his boss' office. Roger's office.
Jon stared, then smiled. He stuck his hands in his pockets, and strolled back to his desk. He would leave, but he had a few things to take care of first.
