For the next 5 years, Jon worried about normal teenage boy things. School, girls, grades, getting into college. His relationship with Karyn nearly failed when she tried convincing him of some magical rock that had changed her boobs and hair, but it seemed like one day she just gave up trying. Jon and her briefly dated their senior year, but they were accepted to different colleges and cut off their relationship before long distance became a factor. Jon started at college, learning the finer arts of drinking, smoking, and all-nighters.
He graduated without too much difficulty, choosing to enjoy his time at school while it lasted and worry about real life when the time came. After college he traveled abroad to Vietnam and parts of China, coming home to try and find a real job. He ended up fairly close to home, in the big city about 2 hours away from his parent's house. He found himself a job at a coffee shop while attempting to figure out what he'll actually be doing with his life.
It wasn't until he was thirty that he seemed to figure it out. He got a real job at an office that didn't seem too bad. He found a woman he loved. They had a daughter together. He loved his family, but life seemed to be passing him by at work. Jon continued to work at that same job for another 15 years, where he can be found now.
Jon sits in his cubicle, staring at nothing. He had pretended to work half the day, and was contemplating how he could further waste his day when a weight appeared in his hand. Jon's eyes refocused, then moved to his right hand. Memories flooded from his childhood. The stone!
