I'm really impressed you actually put some thought into ratings instead of just hitting 10 or 1. That said at least some of his low ratings are bound to come from people rating 1 because of his forum posts, and because he complained about being rated 1. This is the internet, after all.
Out of curiosity, how many truly good writers do you think we have on this site? Most of us are just posting short stuff for shits and giggles so I'd say most don't qualify. I'd only list a few to be honest (Deepfried, Cork, Kylo recently, a handful of others). So a below average rating like 4 for passive observer is probably not what I'd have used. But we all seem to have our own idea what these numbers should represent or whether to rate on a curve or not.
And how do you rate? Personally when I bothered to rate I assumed a 1 was atrocious, a 5 was average, and a 10 was basically perfect. But I've seen other proposed schemes including matching the numbers to letter grades like in school. My purely average would be awful by that standard. (50% or an F)
