Seeing the rock in Roger's hands, Jon knew he was in deep trouble It was highly likely that Roger knew about the stone and its capabilities, but he did not want to reveal his cards yet.
"Roger, what are you doing in my room?" Jon said.
"Me? I'm just playing with this rock of yours." Roger said as he continued to toss the stone.
"Well you shouldn't mess with people's things Roger, it's rude."
"Oh really? You of all people are telling me not to mess with other people's things?"
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"I don't know, why don't you ask my sister Jon?"
"What you mean Mary?" Jon said as his hand began to twitch subconsciously.
"I'm talking about Sarah Jon. My REAL Sister."
Jon's heart began to beat rapidly as Roger emphasized the word real. With all the factors that were working against Jon in his book club plan, he never imagined that someone would have been able to realize that reality had been altered.
"What are you talking about Roger?" Jon said in a quieter tone. "She's your mo-"
"Are you surprised Gibson?" Roger interrupted. "I thought you of all people would remember what your Grandfather told you in his letter." Roger held out the letter in his other hand. "Do you need to read it again Jon?"
Jon did not move an inch from where he was standing. it became clear to Jon that somehow Roger had listened into his conversation with Sarah along with his wish. If he had made sure to check around her before he made the wish, this moment would not be happening right now. However, Jon knew that it was too later to fix his careless mistake, as Roger looked like he was ready to make hundreds of wishes out of pure hate.
"Roger, you don't have to do this." Jon said holding his hands up. "I'm sure we can fix this."
"Fix this? FIX THIS?" Roger yelled as his voice pierced into Jon's sense of safety. "Do you think I'm stupid? I know that your wishes are permanent Jon. I know what the rock is capable of."
"Please don't do this Roger." Jon fell on his knees and assumed the begging position. "Please I know you're mad, and you have every right to be, but please don't use the rock of me. Please!"
The tossing of the rock ceased, as Roger held the rock tightly in his right hand. Roger stared at Jon, who looked like he was about to cry, and began to laugh.
"Jon, why would I do something as stupid as that?" Roger said with bloodlust on his face. "If I were to transform you one of two things would happen. One being you forgot who you were before and act like nothing's happened, and the other is that you adapt and then everything is fine. Neither one of these will satisfy me."
"So what do you want?" Jon said.
"To ruin your life of course. One step at a time."
In the middle of this confrontation, Zoe marched inside the room with an annoyed look on her face.
"Could you guys keep it down a-little," Zoe said. "I really need to study."
"Of course Zoe." Roger said as he began to grin wider than before. "Could you stay here for a minute though? I need to show you something."
