I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who wrote in with feedback. I wasn't expecting my request to start the conversation that it did, I was mainly concerned that I had somehow offended someone, but seeing how things have gone I do feel a need to respond, particularly to Passiveobserver.
Hi. So I recognize you feel attacked, and it's hard to get "bad" reviews, that is part of the reason I asked the question I did, but this isn't a battlefield, it's a community. Nobody here is logging on to go after you, unless you make yourself a person to go after, which your defensive stance and aggressive responses may have done to some people. But this isn't that place.
Think about why you write. Is it for your own glory? Is it because you like the story you are telling? Is it for praise? Whatever the reason, make your writing for you. Don't write to piss off other people, people who you will never meet, there is no end game there and it does nothing but poison the well we are alll drinking from.
People come here to express their fantasies, to make them real for a bit and maybe to share in the creation of that fantasy with some stranger. Do that, and just that, and you will find yourself becoming a better writer, and also a happier one.
