Somehow Jon made it through the rest of the school day without any part of the wish affecting him. He almost convinced himself that nothing would come of the last wish as the end of school bell rang. Karen was waiting for him as he exited the school.
"Mom will be here any minute to take us to Rachel's to pick out our gowns for prom. Isn't this going to be the best prom ever?" She all but gushed in her excitement. "And our dates are two of the hottest seniors in the school."
'That might be my out.' Jon thought. 'Sophomore's don't win Prom Queen.'
"Mom's here, let's go." Karen exclaimed and dragged Jon after her to her mother's car.
As the pair climbed into the back seat, Karen said "Thanks for taking us Mom."
"I wouldn't miss this for the world. It takes me back to my prom. I bet your mother wishes she could be here to help you pick out your prom gown, Jon."
Jon blushed bright red at that thought. 'It will be over soon.' He thought.
