But it was no use. Jon could see it. Tiffany was content with her new persona, actually thinking that she was now better off this way. Jessica was lost in thought, probably thinking about all those sci-fi movies that she now remembered seeing, even though she hadn't. And it was Jon's own fault, making her want to think about all of that. And Melissa didn't seem to care about anything. Although, that wasn't exactly true. She did seem to be on edge, probably needing some weed.
Jon was mad. Pissed off, really. Sure, these girls were some of the meanest girls in school, and maybe on some level they might have deserved it, but no one deserved to get transformed into people like this. Right? And to make it worse, it was Karyn who did it to them. The new Karyn. Karyn the bitch. What he needed was someone just like her to go up against her. But there was no one left. Sarah was off somewhere else, most likely fully changed into her new self - a total dweeb. So she was no help.
But then Jon remembered - the stone! He could just wish for Karyn to stop. He could even wish to make Karyn normal again. But ... what if she tried to stop him before he could get to it? His eyes went wide. What if she was on her way back to his house to have the wishing stone for herself? She knew where it was, after all. She's the only other person who even knew about it. Why settle for a device that could change personalities when you could have something that allowed you to wish for literally anything?
"So, are we going, or what?" Amber asked.
Jon nodded, but wasn't quite sure where they should go. Should they stay at the mall and search for Karyn here, or head to Jon's house, just in case Karyn was headed there instead, hopefully to get to the stone before she did? And if they did go to his house, how was he going to explain this to Amber? He didn't think he should tell her about the wishing stone. He was now starting to regret telling Karyn.
