Mrs. Black's anger reached a boiling point. She pushed open the door to Kevin's room and charged inside.
"What in the WORLD are you doing?" she demanded.
Kevin awoke, and sat up in his bed, shocked by the outburst. "Uh, nothing Mom." he said.
"Don't give me that. I heard you." Mrs. Black replied.
"All right, I was playing with myself, okay?" Kevin grumbled.
"I know, and that is fine. Most boys your age do that. But then I heard you making that wish to turn your friend Jon into a cheerleader girlfriend who'd always be 'obedient'. And you sounded like you MEANT it!"
Mrs. Black looked Kevin directly in the eye. "Didn't I teach you to respect women? Women are NOT mere eye candy, and they're not prizes to be won and displayed like sports trophies. Nor are women things you make obedient as if they were dogs or something. Women are people, with their own hopes and dreams, and goals."
"Mom, I..." Kevin began.
"But that's not the worst of it." Mrs. Black said. "Maybe you are the type of boy who prefers the submissive type, even though I tried to steer you away from that. But that doesn't excuse what you wished would happen to your friend Jon. You wished for him to be tranformed into your loving, obedient girlfriend against his will. What kind of a person DOES that to his best friend?"
Kevin was not sure how to react. Part of him knew right away that his mother was right, but another part of him was upset at this sudden lecture in morality late in the night and just wanted the lecture to stop. Which part of him would win out? And what would Kevin do as a result? He still had the wishing stone nearby.
