Seconded..
Yeah... I read it too (and had to quickly forget what I saw.) I was a bit generous in my mind and assumed you didn't know how old the character was supposed to be- I don't think I saw it referenced so assumed it was an error, perhaps I didn't make it clear enough in my own entry. I try not to think these things are done intentionally...
I would like to suggest, you can't be upset if people are provoked by your story given you must know deep down, you are -trying- to provoke a reaction right? You do have talent for writing... I will grant you that.
One of the things I found is to never write to please others.. write to please yourself. So ask yourself, are you honestly happy with what you have written there? Or are you only happy with the reaction it has caused? Being pleased with reaction does not last... for again, you follow a path to write for others in a very destrutive manner.
Finally, I would offer the following rules in a story as the most basic tenents to adhear to:
-
Treat children as sacred no matter what...
-
Absolutely, treat children as absoutely sacred, absolutely, no matter what...
-
Write with love, for no other medium can evoke deeper emotion. Even when things get dark, love exploring the darkness...
-
Be extremely wary when dealing with the following: real life wars, real life sexual crimes, religion, abortions and disabilites. That is not to say you should never write about them, but these are the very extreme spices of any story and convey very complex emotional states. Too much makes it unpalatable. I would avoid any Real Life person or celebrety name in general.. there are libel rules on that anyway. Parody is generally accepted.
In the end you have to make your own rules and lines, but I have found these to be my own rules after a lot of mistakes I personally made.
