This place seems to be riddled with ideologues who do not see it the same way. And they will NOT treat you with the respect you show them by default. They aren't interested in YOUR worldview. They aren't interested in revising their ideas, under any conditions. They are convinced they have it all figured out, and are ONLY interested in getting you to sit in the audience while they stand on their soapbox and tell you what's what and try to recruit more devotees into their cults. And they will hit you with 1's, relentless 1-ratings on all your posts if they decide that you are ideologically opposed to them. Just take a look at some of my stories. Lately almost every single thing I put up is rated 1 within minutes. I wonder if there's someone who is just constantly hitting refresh and looking for anything written by passiveobserver. Strangely they miss one or two. But it seems pretty suspicious, the things I get immediate 1's on, they sure don't deserve it. Even the ones that AREN'T rebuking their garbage, the things that are harmless, they quickly get 1's. It's just another censorship tactic, their standard fare to ideological opposition. They want to punish me for being different than them. My existence offends them.
Given such an asymmetry, I'm inclined to think you shouldn't treat them as equals. Don't give them the respect you would give to an equal, give them the same respect they give you. Don't follow the golden rule. Fight fire with fire. It seems childish, I know, but it's all you can do, and they certainly don't deserve any better. So if they write a story whose purpose is to express their nasty ideology, like the one I wrote the response to, that literally blamed all the problems of the world on the male sex because it was written by a feminist a.k.a. misandrist, and you add your own chapter contrasting it with your own take on it, and then you see your stuff rated 1 quickly, you'll know how they think of you, of your ideas, you'll know they're plugging their ears and humming to anything you say. They don't care about opposing points of view, they don't care if reality contradicts their narrative. And at that point, you know how to treat them in kind.
And by the way, just so you know, 1-attackers out there, the more 1's you hit me with, the more it motivates me to write. I may FLOOD this place with my own stories if you shower your hatred down on me. Maybe. I'm already kind of bored with this place. But just a little FYI, I only rate my own stories (giving them a 10) if I know for a fact that one of you 1'ers attacked it. Otherwise rating my own stories would be dishonest, I feel. And if I have a PRETTY good idea of who did it, I will return the favor on your own stories. All of them I can find, going back months and months and months, depending on how certain I am. Don't think you have a monopoly on vindictiveness you special little snowflakes you. So think of that if you rate it down because something I write OFFENDS you.
