Karyn walked home at a brisk pace, her head down and brow furrowed as she contemplated the events that had occurred on her way out of school. She had an idea that the wishing stone was somehow responsible, but she couldn't seem to come up with a good reason why Thea thought they were dating. She knew that people had assumed she'd always had blonde hair and large breasts, but she didn't think that would have made her a lesbian. She paused when she heard a girl's voice coming from behind her.

"Hey Karyn, wait up!"

Karyn stopped and turned to see Anne Thomas jogging up behind her. She was surprised the girl wanted to talk to her. She and Anne shared English, but never really spoke to each other. She knew the girl was a member of the GLBT alliance, though. She recalled seeing her putting up flyers around the school and helping stage the school's "Stop Bullying Now" rally. She suddenly felt bad for skipping that particular event.

Anne had a pretty face, and Karyn had to admit that the girl had style. She had with shoulder-length auburn hair and wore a white women's fedora with a blue silk band. She had on a white blouse that was rolled up at the sleeves with a gray vest over some black skinny jeans and a pair of well-loved black chucks. She had an athletic frame with small breasts. Karyn thought she used to be on the track squad, but couldn't remember if that was still the case.

Anne gave Karyn a worried look. "Hey, I heard that you and Thea had some kind of fight. Are you ok? What happened?"

Now it made more sense why Anne was talking to her... did she also think Karyn was a lesbian? Resolving to talk to Jon about the issue, Karyn decided to play along for the moment.

"I... couldn't hang out," she said, fabricating a story on the spot. "I have to go home. I'm going through some... things."

Anne's face softened to sympathy. "I didn't realize you hadn't told her parents yet. Do you want to talk about it?"

Karyn contemplated that for a moment. She had idly wondered before how her parents would have reacted if she had been gay. The thought intrigued her. She didn't realize that thanks to Jon's wish, her parents thought she was gay and dating Thea, but there hadn't been an actual conversation or coming out about it.

Karyn snapped back to the conversation, shaking her head a bit. "Thanks... Anne, but I've gotta go. I appreciate it though."

Anne gave Karyn a supportive smile, looking a little sad. "Well, if you ever need anything, you know we're here for you, right?"

"Yeah, uh, thanks. I'll talk to you later." Karyn said as she turned from the girl to finish her walk home.

Karyn folded her arms across her body as she walked and shook her head a couple of times. She had been hoping Jon would have some idea of how to fix this, but hadn't counted on her conversation with Anne. She hadn't previously had a lot of friends, and was genuinely touched by the fact that Anne seemed to really care for her. As she walked into her house, she considered whether she should put off talking to Jon for a little while.
