Your mother sounds a little off, with a slight hint of an Osaka accent coming through. You realise that your mind is filling with a history that you remember parallel to your original.
Zoe now Natsuko, speaks English like yourself completely without any Japanese accent. Your parents grew up here listening to Japanese at home, and English at school. However your grandparents English is heavily accented, and they drop into Japanese for difficult expressions.

You probe your memory, and realise that you too find it difficult to make friends, being such a geek,
You get changed and grab your books, kissing your mom good-bye before heading off.
