Well, you know where to find me if you want to discuss it. Not sure I want to be too specific in here.
Did you have any idea of where you wanted to go with this idea? Sort of.
The first thing I thought when I read your story was that she was like an "extra" in someone else's dream space, like this world she was in wasn't even real. More like an extra in a movie. If a movie was real life, extras are real people but not ones who are usually noticed in the story
Alternatively a wish could have been used against her to rob her of any social rapport. Yes, but not from the stone. I know the details though, but haven't written them.
Either one has a lot of potential... Imagine if Karen and Jon were the ones to make the wish, but it inadvertently affected them too and they started to forget her too. They didn't. Someone did want this, but it is the result of Jon's 'interesting' wish. He didn't wish it would happen to him though or that he was the interested one.
Lots of potential for Sarah to be very devious if everyone just forgets about her shortly there after. I hadn't thought the effect recurred. Basically, there are plenty of people in the school who we've never noticed as readers. I assume the 20-30 odd characters aren't the entirety of a four grade high school. The town isn't painted as a tiny one.
So, I tend to believe that Sarah may be experiencing the lifestyle of someone the opposite of her. Introvert, not in a clique, etc.
