Mollie held the stone. An idea came to her. One that had been shaped by her two years of experiences in this house. And mostly how rude their daughter was to her.

Mollie Giraud wasn't actually 23; she'd claimed she was 21 to get work in this country. She was the same age as Sarah. She even wore the same clothing size, and Sarah sometimes threw stuff out by letting Mollie have it. It was hard not to be annoyed by Sarah's sense of entitlement and arrogance—or to wish that she had a serious attitude adjustment.

Then it hit her...what to wish for. "I wish Sarah had my future and I had hers." Mollie anticipated Sarah's future was graduating, marrying some man, and having a little Sarah to continue the cycle, while Mollie was working for them till she ended up in an old folk's home—or got deported. There was a flash; however, nothing happened, at least that she could see. She laughed to herself. "Magic rock..."

She headed toward the kitchen. She still needed to unload the dishwasher and put the dishes away before breakfast. When she passed through the hallway, she spotted Sarah on her phone, probably chatting with her boyfriend, who seemed to exercise every muscle but the one between his ears. "I don't know why, but I'm so exhausted...." she muttered. "I'm just going to go to bed early."

Mollie shook her head. Bed at 7 p.m. Mollie herself had to be up before the rest of the house to prepare breakfast, and even she didn't go to bed at 7. Lazy, arrogant, pampered good-for-nothing princess...

Sarah didn't even turn to look at her. She was used to Sarah treating her like a piece of furniture or, occasionally, barking orders.

She finished unloading the dishwasher, put the dishes away, and set the table for breakfast so she wouldn't have to do it in the morning. She found herself yawning. Maybe she'd been working too hard. It was still a few days until her next day off. She curled up in bed and fell asleep watching TV.
