"I see what you mean..you are the only one of the affected who is living alone. Maybe we should find someone to stay with you, or somewhere for you to stay. You and Buster."
"Like who?"
"I haven't given it much thought yet, but do you have anyone in mind?"
Lydia thought about it. "Not that immediately comes to mind...I mean, I have friends...but I really don't want them to know about this."
"Well, why don't you think about it? In the meantime, I suppose we could arrange a morning wellness check for tomorrow, to give you one more day to figure it out."
Lydia sighed. "Thank you. Right now though, I'd better go shopping and make sure I have food in the house. And Buster and I could probably use a walk."
"You have my number if you need anything," Dr. Michaels said.
Lydia wasn't the only one having a tough morning.
The rest of the adults were hiding out as well. Despite forcing their kids to go to school, Lucy cleared her schedule for the week, Robert had decided to work from his home office, Laura had only taken a single day off, and Simon was between jobs right now, so he could stay out of sight. It was somewhat hypocritical of them.
As soon as the kids were off to school, Laura and Simon sat at the table. "How did you sleep?" Laura asked him.
"Well, I fell asleep in a bed and woke up on an air mattress...not the best for my back, but...I had some odd dreams," he commented.
"Oh? Like what?"
"Well, it was something of a blur..." Simon said. "But it isn't like I can't imagine what caused it....we are all in a crazy situation."
"It is just the two of us....We could always go for an encore of last night," Laura said.
Simon looked at her, and suddenly felt rather uncomfortable with the whole idea for some reason. "I think...it's a bit early," he said.
"Come on, Si...I took a sick day, and you have a few days before your next job starts..." she said.
"Is that all you can think about?" He said.
"You didn't complain last night..."
He sighed. "I'm just...not in the mood right now."
"Fine...how about we finish up the rec-room? I bet the kids could use some place to relax after all this. Not to mention us."
He nodded gratefully...hoping the subject of having sex didn't come up for a bit. He had just had sex with her last night...why did it suddenly feel like a scary idea to have it now? He wondered if this whole ordeal had affected him more than he thought.
