[With all deference to the other wonderful authors on here who have expounded on this thread, I thought I would like to give my own, lesser, twist on this universe. Enjoy.]
Jon slowly walked into math class, the stone's whereabouts placed in the back of his mind. He glanced over at the teacher, Mr. Badske, who regarded him with a slight notice of disdain. Jon took his seat at the front of the classroom, a slight change from his normal seating arrangement near the back. He briefly considered this, before the thought passed from his mind altogether.
"Now that Mr. Madison is here," Badske said, with a hint of venom in his voice, "We can begin the test. You have all hour. When you're finished, place it on my desk and then read a book or something. Begin." With that motion, Badske waved his hands in a dismissive fashion, obviously interested in being somewhere, anywhere, but there.
Jon opened up his test booklet and began. The myriad of equations and imaginary numbers of this calculus test boggled his mind. The fact that he had walked into an algebra class just a few seconds earlier never crossed his mind. As he progressed through the test, he found the equations coming together more quickly in his head. He glanced back at earlier in the test, thinking to himself about the stupid answers he had written in. Idly he scratched his head, trying his best to ignore the itchy tingling on his scalp. After correcting his earlier mistakes, he walked up to the teachers desk and turned in the test, with a little under half the hour to go. Badske smiled up at him and took the test. Jon smiled back and ran a hand through his now shoulder length hair as he walked back to his desk, and waited till the end of class.
