Jon found himself very confused, but managed to make his way through breakfast without causing any problems. He gathered his things, walked out the front door, and--
Oh, wow. What an amazing day it was today. Whatever Jon had been thinking about his family just melted away in the golden morning sunshine and soft, cool wind. A grin spread on his face. Today was going to be a good day, just like every day.
When he saw Karyn at their usual meeting place, Jon felt an urge rise up inside of him. He ran the rest of the way and jumped on her, hugging her to the ground on the grass behind them.
"Jon! You know I hate it when you do that," Karyn said, playfully slapping his side. Jon could tell she wasn't really quite angry.
But had he ever done this before? I hate it when you do that. Jon had never felt the need to tackle-hug his best friend. It seemed, well, a little undignified before. But it didn't now.
Jon thought about that as the two teenagers got up and brushed themselves off. Maybe this had something to do with the stone?
