Problem is most of the really long stories are just similar scenarios happening in very slightly different ways to slightly different people, over and over again. It just gets repetitive.
Of course there are others that are genuinely really long, but they rarely are something I'm interested in, for whatever reason, even when the writing is decent (probably in part because it's not very kink oriented like the old stuff). Seems like what I like mostly gets short (and often poorly written) entries. Although even that has vanished lately. Only authors that could really carry the stuff I like a long time (Deepfried, occasionally Amarantha, Cork, and more recently the mysterious Enfuego) all seem to be gone.
Oh well. Was bound to happen eventually. I was never a very prolific contributor myself, anyway.
