"You see Jon, it wokrs like this: I mean this in the nicest possible way, but you're kind of...flat."
"What do you mean 'flat'?"
Karyn bit her lower lip somewhat awkwardly. "Well, you see I don't mean to be rude, but...you don't have much in the way of a 'personality,' per se."
Jon glared at her.
"Well I mean you do..." Karyn rapidly moved to clarify. "Everyone here has one...when whoever happens to be narrating at the time feels like giving us one. But here's the thing: at base, by which I mean, the personality that you've had since the first episode...what is there to say about you? Really? You are an average middle class teenage male. Are you a straight-A student? Are you disfigured? Are you gay? None of this information exists, because the various narrators very rarely give it."
Jon looked like he was about to raise some objection but Karyn silenced him.
"Understand, once again, that I mean this in the nicest possible way, but...you're just a hollow shell of a teenaged boy who happens to have a magic rock. And that's what makes you the most important individual in this universe; because it allows the narrators to project their own personalities upon you."
"But why would they want to do that?" Jon asked at last, his heart broken. "Why would they want to project themselves upon some average teenage boy?"
Karyn giggled slightly inspite of herself. "Why...so that they can destroy you of course."
