Jon is sitting in the bathroom and decides to ask his first question to his new mental companion.
"What exactly did my wish for something interesting change?"
It was the obvious first question to ask, however the answer was far less obvious.
"Your wish for something interesting changed the Roswell incident."
"What?! How does me wishing for something interesting to happen result in 70+ year old events changing?"
"Interesting: arousing curiosity or interest; holding or catching the attention."
"I didn't ask for the definition!"
"How does the current situation not meet that definition?"
Jon stops for a moment... The voice was correct, his current predicament could absolutely be described as "interesting"
"UGH... Fine, then what exactly happened back then to cause... This!" Jon exasperatedly says in his head.
"Early nuclear tests attracted the attention of aliens. Said aliens decided to intervene to prevent humanity from self destructing and accelerate it's technological and scientific development. They did so by designing and unleashing a symbiotic bio organism on the human population using hundreds of carrier probes that crash landed on earth. Roswell is significant for being the first probe recovered and examined."
"Wow... D-do other people know this?"
"Yes every probe contained a message detailing the intended effects of their payload in the 3 most prevalent languages for what ever region they were sent to."
"So what exactly did this alien organism do?"
"It hijacked human biology and behavior. Firstly all children are now born male, but can instantly become female as part of puberty. In fact puberty in general is now an instentanious process. Second-"
"How does that work?" Jon interrupts.
"Puberty is something that happens spontaneously to boys between 14 and 20 but can happen as late as 24. When it occurs they change from their child bodies to their adult male bodies within minutes. After a boy experiences puberty and becomes a man, for the next 24 to 48 hours they can trigger puberty in other boys just by being near them."
The voice pauses momentarily for Jon to process what it was saying.
"So then how do girls come about? Is that why Karyn mentioned something about a girl name? She thinks she was a boy?"
"Yes, to be exact she believes that the two of you got together last night and wished for one of you to get your puberty. You got yours and then she turned into your woman as a result."
"Wait how is me getting my puberty result in Karyn becoming a teenage wet dream?"
"For about 24 to 48 hours after getting your puberty, the alien cells inside you send out signals that instruct the cells in prepubescent boys to turn them into your dream girl. Thus since you were together when that wish was supposed to be made, it was a given that one of you would become the other's woman."
"Why not wish for both of us to get our puberty at the same time?"
"You won't fully understand without me explaining the psychological changes brought about by the alien cells in your body. But to keep it simple, men are now biologically programed to be fierce rivals. Your friendship would not have survived if both of you became men."
"I see, I suppose I should ask for you explain how that works now... Wait does that mean the boy I encountered in the hallway was actually Zoe? It was a one time thing right? He's not going to turn into a girl too is he?"
"By now Zoe's already fully imprinted on you."
"But she's my sister!"
"The alien cells suppress all diseases, so inbreeding is a non issue. In fact your parents, like many other small families, keep their children indoors as much as possible after a certain age to maximize their chances of eventually becoming men. However the flip side is that since women imprint for life and a man can only make someone their woman for as little as a few hours, there is a very real chance they might miss their only chance to ever find a woman. For this reason many families have a second child just so the first is guaranteed to have someone."
"So Zoe was raised with the understanding that I'd eventually turn her into my wife? That's really messed up! Fuck how do I wish this back to normal?"
"You can't."
"Why not?! Something interesting is as non descript as it gets, why can't I wish that it had a different effect?"
"Because you drained the stone of it's power, it needs time to recharge. Small wishes like myself are fine in the meantime but it won't have enough power to do anything on this scale again for at least 200 years."
"Well shit, so this is my life now? Is it even ok for me to have two wives?"
"The stigma against polygamy died out with public schools. As you can imagine a boy suddenly getting his puberty and turning the rest of his class into his personal harem... Didn't go over too well with their families."
"So if I got this right, I'm stuck living with my best friend and sister turned beautiful babes? Could be worse all things considered. What do they think about it?"
"The same alien cells that altered their bodies alter their minds. They are both completely loyal, absolutely in love with you and submissive. As for-"
"Isn't that a little misogynistic?"
"That's an old word that no longer holds any meaning. While it is true that women live to be useful to their man, men are equally driven by the desire to care for and make their women happy. It's to the point that if a man doesn't get at least one woman while he can, he'll kill himself for not having someone to care for. You've already experienced this feeling yourself when you decided not to tell Karyn about your careless wishing. You simply didn't want to hurt her feelings."
The voice stops to give Jon time to recall the feeling.
"Besides women actually hold all the power over men. For one thing they unconsiously inflict physical pain on men just by being upset at them. Secondly men can't bear to see a woman not properly cared for, especially if they are somehow responsible and even if it's not one of their girls. This ability alone has ended world hunger and brought about world peace."
"Wait the world is actually a better place now?"
"Of course, the aliens knew what-"
-- "Jon is everything alright in there?" Jon instinctively knew who the beautiful and melodic voice speaking out from behind the door belonged to. It was his sister Zoe.
