"Well", Nikita continued, "There are wishes you could make to fix things for the both of us"
"Such as?" Jon asked.
"Well. You can't wish Sarah to being human again, so we can do the next best thing. I'll power share with her"
"WHAT?" Jon was stunned; he had no idea what she was talking about, "What are you talking about Nikita?"
"I'm serious. She's living in a purgatory at the moment, not belonging to either human or canine life. She can't become human again and I've been thrown into her life, the least we can do is let her live it, even if it's part time"
"How do you plan to do that? I can't exactly make any changes to the wish about Sarah", Jon pointed out.
Nikita cleared her throat, "Yes, that's true, but you can still make wishes on me", she said.
"Like?" Jon pressured.
"The same wish that gave you your special swapping ability. The one that you punished Sarah with which started this whole downwards spiral", Nikita said.
"You really want to do this?" Jon asked
"Yes. It's only fair and Sarah really does feel like a sister to me, so I'm not that concerned. We'll get along great. I know her inside and out, don't forget"
"Alright", Jon said, getting up from the chair, "If you say so"
"Thanks Jon", Nikita called after Jon as he left the living room.
Jon disappeared upstairs and returned a moment later with a rock in his hands, Nikita didn't know why he had a rock, and it didn't really seem to help matters much. He placed the rock on the coffee table and sat back down next to Nikita.
"Ok, so I take it that you and Sarah will stay together?" Jon asked.
Nikita shrugged, "I guess so, otherwise it would be hard to swap bodies with her on a regular basis"
Jon sighed, "Fair enough. As far as my parents know; she ran away anyway. Mickey may be a little cut up but I think we can get another dog and be ok with it"
"Treat this one better though, ok?" Nikita added.
Jon poked his tongue out at Nikita, "I would love to have a sister like you, willing to do something like this"
"You do Jon", Nikita replied, "Zoe would do anything she could for you, you've just never had to ask her. Just be grateful you never find yourself in a situation where you have to"
Jon nodded, he picked up the rock and made a simple wish, "I wish that Nikita would take this stone from me, recite all the wishes I made relating to the swapping power I have and then return the stone to me"
The stone glowed; almost the same instant Nikita reached for the stone and pulled it out of Jon's hands. She then spoke words that just seemed to appear in her mind, unable to stop herself from saying anything. When she was finished, the stone had finished glowing, she handed the rock back to Jon.
"Wow, so that's it, huh?" Nikita asked, looking at her hands
"Yup, that's it. You've got the same power as I do now", he said, Jon looked at Nikita with a realization, "By the way, I just realized. I wished that Sarah would age at the same rate as a human. That means you'll have a dog that will live in upwards of 70 to 80 years now"
Nikita chuckled, "That's pretty cool, a real lifelong companion"
Jon nodded, "Ok. Now let's see. There was one more wish for you wasn't there?"
"Yup, wish that I was comfortable with my new life. That should be pretty simple"
"Ok", Jon turned to the stone again, "I wish that Nikita was comfortable with her new life"
The stone glowed again, with it Nikita could feel all her concerns and inhibitions about the life she was given vanish. She felt like she belonged now. Nikita looked down at herself, nothing had changed at all, yet she felt completely different.
Almost as an afterthought, Jon hastily added another wish, "I wish that if she concentrated, Nikita could understand what Sarah was saying"
"Thanks Jon", she leaned over and pecked him on the cheek, "Thanks a lot for this"
It was Jon's turn to blush this time. Nikita stood up to leave; Jon stood with her and walked her to the door. When they reached the door he politely opened it for her. Nikita walked past Jon and out the door, luckily, she didn't catch him looking over her stunning figure as she walked past.
"See you around, Nikita", Jon said after her.
Nikita turned around to face Jon, "Call me Nikki", she said, before turning around again and walking off.
Jon watched Nikita walk to her car, he was entertaining thoughts about her that he never considered, dismissing the thoughts with a wave, he closed the door and walked back up to his room, to put the stone back in it's safe place.
Nikita walked up the steps to her house and swung the door open, she could hear her mother cooking something in the kitchen. Nikita felt right for the first time as she walked into her home, it was her home now, thanks to Jon's wish. Nikita headed upstairs to her bedroom and walked inside, there Sarah was sitting on all fours by the mirror.
Sarah's head propped up at the sound of the bedroom door opening, her head snapped around to see Nikita walking in to the room. Sarah got up and trotted over to Nikita, barking in what seemed like desperation. This time, Nikita concentrated and she really could understand what Sarah was saying
"Please, please help me Nikita. I need you", Sarah yelped desperately.
She stopped short of Nikita and yipped happily, Nikita laughed as she reached down and petted her new companion.
"That's alright Sarah, I can hear you this time", Nikita said, walking over to the bed, she sat down on the side of the bed and gestured for Sarah to come up and sit down beside her, "We really need to talk"
