"It's sitting right there on the cabinet behind you", Jon said, pointing with his free hand, Karyn currently occupied his other.
Zoe turned around; on the middle shelf of the cabinet was the stone, just where Jon left it. She pointed at it, "That old piece of rock is the wishing stone from Grandpa?" she asked.
"Yup", Jon replied, "That's the one. I put a perception wish on it long ago so that anyone who saw it would react like you did just then"
Zoe stood up and looked at the stone; she was pretty close to the display cabinet, turning to Jon, she asked, "Do you mind if I take a look?"
"Sure", Jon replied.
Zoe opened the cabinet gently and removed the stone from its resting place. She looked it over, turning it over in her hands, and "Looks like an ordinary rock to me"
Zoe kept examining the rock, she pulled something out of her pocket and put it on, it was a pair of thick rimmed glasses. Jon realized that even though they were kinda geeky, it also made Zoe look rather cute. Jon realized that's what Zoe was going for, geek-chic culture!
She has a new fad, Jon thought, Good for her
"I'll prove it to you", Jon said, holding up Zoe's coffee cup, "Try to change this into something else"
"The cup or the contents?" Zoe replied.
"Not really fussed either way"
"Ok", Zoe spoke, she thought aloud, "I wish coffee mug was 6 inch Incan honour blade from the earliest known period of Incan history and the coffee in the mug was an emerald embedded in the handle of the dagger in the shape of a crucifix"
The rock in Zoe's hands started to glow; she nearly dropped it in surprised. After a second, the glow faded. Zoe looked on in amazement at the coffee mug in Jon's hand reshaping itself into a dagger, the coffee itself seemed to float out of the mug and crystallize before taking on an emerald sheen and merging with the blade's handling and taking the shape that Zoe asked for.
When the wish was finished, Zoe had an exact duplicate of the dagger she asked for, she took it from Jon and held it in her hands, turning it over, examining it closely, she could see that the emerald was real and the blade was real iron. Zoe chuckled to herself.
"What's so funny?" Jon asked.
"There is so many things wrong with this dagger it's not funny", Zoe replied.
"What? It looks like what you asked for", Jon answered.
"That's the point", Zoe said, looking at Jon, "Christianity wasn't around back then first off, and emerald wasn't a gem the Incans valued. Not to mention that Incans never embedded precious stones into their weapons. If I gave this to academics, they'd absolutely flip out"
Jon and Karyn looked at each other quizzically; Zoe had definitely gotten stranger as she got older.
She flipped the stone over in her hands, "So, you guys ever play with this thing?" she asked innocently.
"Naw, not really", Jon replied, "We've been a little too busy, not to mention that we've got all that we wanted, so there's no need for it anymore"
Karyn nodded in agreement with Jon.
"So, do you mind if I use it then?" Zoe asked, gesturing to the rock.
"What do you want it for?" Jon asked.
"A penis", Zoe replied bluntly.
Jon choked, Karyn had to hit him on the back a few times until he recovered, and "I'm sorry?" he asked.
"You heard me, I want a penis", Zoe said, "I want to see what it's like to have one"
"There's a problem with that Zoe, wishes can't be reversed, if you wish for yourself to have one, you can't unwish it later on", Jon said.
"Oh, what else aren't you telling me?" Zoe asked.
"Nothing, just that the rock has a 3 mile radius for wishes, that's about it", Jon said.
"Well how did Karyn get a penis and not have it permanent?" Zoe asked.
"We used the wish to swap my penis with her vagina", Jon said, "It wasn't the same as just 'wishing one' on her. She's technically got mine still"
"Well why can't I do the same thing she did?"
"Emily doesn't have a penis; at least I don't think she does"
"Well what's wrong then? You two are both women and one of you has a penis, it seemed to push your relationship to the next level, what if I want to do the same?" Zoe asked.
"Well you'd have to be absolutely sure you want one, why not borrow Karyn's first and see what you think?"
"Hey!" Karyn exclaimed.
"Come on Karyn", Jon said, "It's not that bad, Zoe can borrow it for a bit and see if she likes it, if not she gives it back, if she does, she still gives it back and wishes for her own later"
"Hrm", Zoe thought, "But how would you give it to me? I assume Karyn does not have the swapping power?"
"Smart deduction", Jon replied, "I could give you the swapping power I suppose. Or I could swap it to you through me"
"I'm not sure what route I'd wanna take, I'll have to think about it for a moment. There seems to be an awful lot of effort involved here for such a simple outcome", Zoe said.
