Jon hadn't seen the note in four years, since his grandfather first bequeathed him the wishing stone in the first place that started them on this crazy adventure. He looked at the worn paper and the faded writing that was on it, before passing it back to Zoe. Zoe folded it up and put it away in her pocket again.
"Well " Karyn started, looking to Jon for an idea where to start. He scratched his head, careful not to mess up his hair again.
"Well " Jon repeated, just as unsure where to start.
"Well ?" Zoe persisted, rather amused.
"Ok, I guess from the beginning?" Jon suggested, looking to Karyn for approval, she nodded.
"Well, you remember when Grandpa died?" Jon asked.
"Grandpa Emmitt?" Emily replied, "Sure, I remember"
Jon nodded, "Yea, that's it. Well, Grandpa was doing a few things about the world; one of those things was excavating a dig in South Africa"
Zoe nodded, she remembered, "An ancient temple of some sort, they thought it was Mayan but it was in the wrong region to be a Mayan temple, despite the fact that the markings on the temple seemed to indicate as such"
Jon nodded, Zoe had kept herself well versed in her grandfather's work, "Well, he left me with a gift, something he found before he died. Although I say died, I'm not convinced that he is actually dead", he said
Karyn sighed, "We've been over this Jon"
Zoe looked at Jon curiously, "You thought he isn't dead too? So did I after reading that note. Something about it didn't read right"
Jon agreed, Karyn sighed Not another conspiracy nut, she thought to herself.
Zoe pressured Jon to continue, "Ok, so move on to the magical rock bit", she said.
Jon answered, "Well that's pretty much it, and it's a rock that grants wishes. Magically, there's nothing more to it then that"
Zoe asked, "How do you know that grandpa wasn't losing his mind?"
Jon nodded, "Yea, I was just as sceptical, until we found out that it was real"
"How?"
"Well, uh, Karyn sorta made a rather impulsive wish", Jon said cautiously, gauging Karyn's reaction, she groaned.
"Oh, what kind of wish was that?" Zoe asked, "it would have to be a big one to prove that magic was real"
"Yea, it was. She kind of made her tits about 3 times bigger, and gave herself long blonde hair", Jon said.
Zoe looked at Karyn, trying to imagine her with what Jon described, or rather trying to imagine an 18 year old Karyn like that before her growth spurt, after a second, her eyes widened and she snickered, "Oh my god! Karyn, of all the things to wish for", she said, trying to avoid breaking into laugher.
"Anyway, I spent all night figuring out a way to get Karyn back to normal. So I came up with a wish", Jon said.
He continued to explain the basis of the wish, and all the details as to how the wish was supposed to work, Zoe listened intently, hanging on his every word, finally he got up to the good part.
"So you used this swapping wish to get Karyn back to normal?" Zoe asked.
"Yea", Jon replied.
"And it had some side effects, I take it?" Zoe asked.
"What makes you say that?" Jon replied.
"Jon", Zoe started, "I'm staring my brother who looks like a 22 year old model for women's clothing. Alarm bells are ringing Jonny".
Jon looked over to Karyn, "Told you she'd grow up to be a scientist one day"
"No, you said she'd grow up to be a lesbian, or at least bi", Karyn replied before realizing what she said, she looked over to Zoe in shock who was watching her with mild amusement.
Zoe looked back to Jon, "So anyway, why didn't you try to change yourself back?"
Jon answered, "Well, our lovemaking session was a little impulsive, Karyn and I were afraid to swap everything back to normal in case we lost what we had just earned. Better safe then sorry. I mean you were there, you literally walked in on us just after our first time, remember?"
Zoe nodded, "So you two are stuck as women I assume?" before clarifying, "Well of course Karyn is naturally a woman, but Jon, you've never tried to change back. How do you two Well the mechanics escape me on how exactly two women go at it although I have been experimenting on it a bit"
"Experimenting, who with?" Jon said in surprise that Zoe would admit it so easily.
"Emily Morris"
Karyn spat out her coffee when she heard the name, "Emily?" she said in shock, "OUR Emily? Brown hair, green eyes, freckles, infectious laughter, that Emily Morris?"
"That's the one", Zoe replied with a grin, "Although I'd hardly call her your Emily these days. You haven't spoken to her in nearly two years!"
Jon frowned, "We've just been so damned busy"
Zoe shrugged, "Emily knows that, she wanted to come around with me today actually but was busy herself. You should try to catch up with her sometime, she does miss you", Zoe said.
Jon and Karyn felt bad now, they hadn't seen Emily in so long and now they'd missed out on important news. Zoe and Emily were dating; it was still a shock to Jon.
"So, uh, Zoe", Karyn asked, "I don't know how to phrase this but do you "
"Bat for the other team?" Zoe asked, "I could ask you the same question"
Karyn laughed, "Me? No, I'm only for Jon, no matter what he looks like, and we have the right plumbing to make it work anyway", she said.
"You have a penis?" Zoe asked Karyn, then she looked at Jon, "Or do you?"
"I do", Karyn replied, and then nudged her head in Jon's direction, "It's his. Or rather, was his"
"Hrm", Zoe pondered this, before answering Karyn, "Well to answer your question, I consider myself more of a mercenary, willing to work for either side", she said.
A lot of revelations occurred today, it was rather interesting on all side. But Zoe realized they had detracted from their discussion of the stone.
"Hrm, fair enough", Zoe said, "Anyway, so what exactly happened to the stone?"
