"It's sitting right there on the cabinet behind you", Jon said, pointing with his free hand, Karyn currently occupied his other.
Emily turned around; on the middle shelf of the cabinet was the stone, just where Jon left it. She pointed at it, "That old piece of rock is a wishing stone?" she asked.
"Yup", Jon replied, "That's the one. I put a perception wish on it long ago so that anyone who saw it would react like you did just then"
Emily stood up and looked at the stone; she was pretty close to the display cabinet, turning to Jon, she asked, "Can I touch it?"
"Sure", Jon replied.
Emily opened the cabinet gently and removed the stone from its resting place. She looked it over, turning it over in her hands, and "Looks like an ordinary rock to me"
"I'll prove it to you", Jon said, holding up Emily's coffee cup, "Try to change this into something else"
"The cup or the contents?" Emily replied.
"Not really fussed either way"
"Ok", Emily spoke, she thought aloud, "I wish that the coffee in this cup was really iced tea"
The rock in Emily's hands started to glow; she nearly dropped it in surprised. After a second, the glow faded. Emily took the cup from Jon's hand and sniffed the contents; she cautiously took a sip from the cup.
"Oh my god", Emily said in shock.
"Yea, I know, pretty cool huh?" Jon replied.
"No", Emily said firmly.
"No?!" Jon and Karyn replied in shock.
Emily held the cup up to them, "This is the worst cup of iced tea I've ever had. Tastes like fish oil!" she said, adding almost offhandedly, "Oh, but the wishing thing is cool though"
Jon and Karyn laughed, Emily was the same as ever.
She flipped the stone over in her hands, "So, you guys ever play with this thing?" she asked innocently.
"Naw, not really", Jon replied, "We've been a little too busy, but I've always wanted to have another go at it"
Karyn nodded in agreement with Jon.
"What did you have in mind?" Emily asked, gesturing to the rock.
Jon smiled, "Well, I've really wanted to give Karyn the power to swap bodies, but we didn't really have the time to play with it before. We can give you that power too if you want", he said.
Emily's eyes brightened up, "Really? You mean it? That'll be totally kick ass!" she asked.
"Yea, just give me the stone and I'll figure out how to do it", Jon replied, "Wishes It's been so long since I made the wish, I'll have to remember it first"
Emily looked at the stone, confused, "Couldn't you just wish to remember the words on the rock and give them to us?"
Jon shrugged, "Yea, I suppose it could work, give me the stone and I'll think of something"
Emily handed the rock to Jon without question; he held it in his soft hands while thinking how to word the wish correctly. Karyn got up and put the discarded cups away while Jon thought it over.
She came back in just as Jon proclaimed, "Got it!" he said, "I'll make a wish that makes you two wish this the way I did!"
Emily nodded, it made sense, if the rock can give people swapping powers, and it can make people repeat ancient words form a long forgotten wish.
"Ok, here goes", Jon said, "I wish that Karyn would take the rock from me and recite every wish I made relating to my swapping power"
Karyn impulsively took the rock from Jon, she couldn't stop herself, at the same time she spoke words she'd never heard before, identical to the way Jon phrased the wish the first time he made it all that time ago. She made three wishes, three times the rock flashed.
Karyn spoke into the rock next, "I wish that Emily would take the rock from me and recite every wish I just made on the stone today"
Emily then found herself practically snatching the rock from Karyn's hands and repeating the exact same words she did, three wishes, three flashes. It was done.
Emily handed the rock back to Jon, who replaced it in the display case in the far end of the room. Emily looked at her hands, she didn't feel any different.
"How do we test this?" she asked.
Jon looked at Karyn, "Simple I guess, and the same way I did, point at someone and swap something"
Emily and Karyn looked at each other and raised their pinkie fingers; it was practically a quick draw. Both of them spoke at the same time.
"Give me that penis", Emily said.
"Give me those breasts", Karyn said.
