Jon figured the best way to start was to see if the wish would swap what he wanted, when he wanted, so the simplest way to do that would be to see if he could swap hair. Since Karyn's hair was messed up, swapping hair would be a good start to see if this wish could work for her.
Jon pointed his index finger at Zoe, whispering to himself, "Give me that hair"
Nothing happened, Jon quickly backed out of the room and into the hallway where he could examine himself clearly, it was too dark in Zoe's room to tell if anything had changed.
"Crap, it didn't work", Jon muttered to himself, "I wonder what I did wrong?" batting a strand of black hair away from his face.
Wait a minute, Jon thought.
He raced over to the mirror that hung in the hallway; he looked in amazement at the image that reflected back at him. Jon was there all right, everything was the same except for instead of his normally spiky brown hair, waves of smooth, silky black hair flowed down his head and his back.
It worked! Jon though, I can't believe it, it worked, as he grabbed a lock of the Zoe hair that was dangling down from his head. He gave it an experimental tug and felt a twinge on his scalp.
Yup, definitely mine now it seems.
He examined his head in the mirror from all angles, definitely really his, he confirmed. He tried to get a peak back into Zoe's room and couldn't see a thing, so he couldn't tell if she had his hair or not.
Oh well, at least that part worked, Jon thought to himself.
"You can have it back", he said to the mirror, and in a flash, his hair had shrunk and reshaped itself into its old short and spiky style that Jon had sported for the last 6 months.
Jon chuckled, it was working perfectly. But he needed to check out the rest of the wish, to specifically see if it was actually swapping parts or just copying them, and if the "perception" wish he added to his swap wish would work properly too.
Jon crept back into Zoe's room again.
