Lucy stopped and placed a hand on Mollie's shoulder.
“Could I have a quick word? She asked, gently guiding the young woman back into the bedroom, closing the door.
"I know things have been rather confusing, Mollie. I mean...waking up in bed with Biff, your parts now belonging to someone else."
Mollie nodded, unsure what this was about, but letting her finish.
"Have you been fooling around with Robert?" she asked, directly.
"I would never make advances at my employer," she said. It was the truth.
"But did he make advances to you?" She demanded. Mollie looked a bit ashamed, but then covered it up, but that was enough for Lucy. "Mollie...have you and Robert talked since this happened?"
"I did not see him much yesterday," she said.
"Well, if he likes waking up in your bed so much," Lucy said, "maybe he should just go to sleep there as well."
"But...where will I sleep?" Mollie asked. She wasn't expected to share with him, was she?
"We'll find a place," she said, opening the door. "And I'm not going to fire you for this." She and Robert had their little indiscretions over the years, but she'd been very clear that she expected it to stay out of their home. And pressuring the poor girl to do it...
Mollie followed Lucy out. She seemed to believe that Monsieur Robert had taken advantage of her. And he had...but she hadn't exactly been unwilling. She had felt alone and vulnerable when she moved here, and unprepared for how isolated she felt. But she couldn't go back to France. It wasn't that it was such a horrible country, but she knew what would await her there.
Outside, Mollie and Lucy going away had left Biff and Sarah awkwardly standing in the hallway. Both looked a bit uncomfortable as well. After all, they weren't exactly equipped with complementary equipment any longer. "How are you doing?" She asked.
"I hate this....I mean....I'm too embarrassed to talk to any of my friends....and you and me...." He sounded frustrated.
Sarah put a hand on his shoulder, not noticing it was somewhat lower than yesterday. His hair was looking a bit scruffy as well. "I'm not going anywhere...I'm figuring this out just like you," she said. "And...maybe they'll fix this?"
"You think so?" Biff asked.
"Well, it's only been a day. It's too early to give up."
He felt a bit better as they headed into the dining room only a few moments ahead of Lucy and Mollie. They found Robert setting the table.
